KinderUni - Wann brauche ich Hitzefrei? Wie mein Körper mit hohen Temperaturen klarkommt

In the organizer's words:

Summer at last! Eating ice cream and going to the outdoor pool to cool off - that's fun. But summers in Germany are getting hotter and hotter. Sometimes it's so hot that not only does our ice cream melt far too quickly, but we feel tired and listless, can no longer pay attention in class and even get in a bad mood. Why does this actually happen? What does heat do to our bodies? And what helps us to feel good even on very hot days?
And what about heat-free days?

Lecture by Dr. Julia Hellmann, head of the Global Environmental Health and Climate Change working group at the LMU Klinikum.
Moderation: Geli Schmaus
The lecture will be interpreted into sign language.

What is the KinderUni?

There are various (technical) colleges and two large universities in Munich. Every winter and summer semester, the KinderUni is a guest at one or more of these universities and colleges and organizes free lectures and events especially for children between the ages of 7 and 12 - parents are not allowed in the KinderUni lectures!

More information and registration here: kinderuni-muenchen.de

In the summer semester 2026, the KinderUni will be a guest at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität for three lectures. Please be there at least fifteen minutes before the start of the lecture - you will have to get an entry in your student handbook on site.
