Johan lets himself drift with life and fits perfectly into Copenhagen's gay scene with its pubs, parties and one-night stands. He spends a lot of time at Adonis, the city's only gay sauna, where he has not only recently started working, but also shares non-committal sexual experiences with the visitors. Despite everything, Johan still longs for closeness - and finds it with William, an empathetic trans man. However, he soon realizes that not everyone at Adonis agrees that he has fallen in love with someone they don't see as part of their male alliance.

Not fit, not white, not masculine enough for Adonis? Mathias Broe's debut "Sauna" is a pleasurable film about men who love men - and at the same time settles accounts with a discriminatory gay dating culture. Broe skillfully navigates the relationship of his main characters, which is characterized by lust and curiosity. But also of social expectations that put Johan and William under constant pressure. "Sauna" is sensitive, sexy and a celebration of the intimate connections that arise when people free themselves from the gaze of others.

Sauna will be shown in the foyer of the Filmhaus with a cinema-quality projection and sound via headphones .
