The Orient: various Persian, Ottoman and Arabic influences can be found here. The diversity of the cuisine also reflects the rich landscape of Syria and Lebanon: in the Mediterranean, on the mountains or in the desert. There are lots of vegetables and a huge selection of spices, herbs and pulses. To be full and satisfied, you only need a little meat.
Of course, we start by cooking a good oriental tea together, then we continue with starters, main course and dessert. The menus change each time, please check the Accordion for more information!
Instructor Ahmad is a passionate cook and a charismatic host. His course makes it clear why Syria is considered a gourmet paradise in the Orient.

23.01. & 17.04. - Syrian cooking course: Aubergines - a special vegetable

You think eggplants are boring? Let us surprise you! In oriental cuisine, they are one of the stars of the plate - whether fried, stuffed or as an aromatic side dish. In our cooking course, we will show you how to prepare an all-round delicious dish using simple ingredients and typical Syrian spices.

On this evening, we will prepare a traditional Syrian menu together:
As a starter, we will serve muhammara - a spicy bell pepper paste with walnuts and oriental flavors.

The main course is maklobe - a delicious combination of rice with raisins, fried eggplants and nuts, with or without minced meat. The dish is rounded off with a refreshing mint and cucumber yoghurt. Finally, a typical Syrian dessert awaits you - a sweet treat for the perfect end to the evening.

Lebanese cooking evening: fattoush and köfte

Immerse yourself in the diverse world of Lebanese cuisine! In this cooking class, we will prepare a typical Lebanese menu together: look forward to the refreshing fattoush, spicy köfte - optionally also in a vegetarian version - and a traditional Lebanese dessert. In addition to the preparation, you will gain interesting insights into the typical ingredients, spices and food culture of Lebanon.
