In the organizer's words:
Like: Arrivederci? Yes! Arrivederci! For heaven’s sake, it’s got to end sometime. Well, let’s take one last look around and see what’s happened over these 60 years I’ve been here in the Rhineland—47 of them on stage. Let’s breathe life into the Cologne Basic Law one more time, for your final amusement. I’ll provide examples, explanations, stories, and the occasional song for each paragraph and the preamble, so that even non-Rhinelanders have a chance to understand what a special universe the Rhineland is. That’s the least I owe the Rhineland.
But then it’s time to call it a day. I’ve got other things to do besides making you laugh: there are (at the moment) two granddaughters and two grandsons—who knows what else might be on the way (I’m still hopeful!)—and I have to take care of my health—in between, since I’m a “premium patient” at the University Hospital in Bonn (that’s what it says in my medical records!), and since I’ve been through a thing or two. Besides, I’m no Johannes Heesters; I’m just a regular cross-border traveler between Italy, South Tyrol, and the Rhineland universe. And since they say in the Rhineland, “You never really leave,” we’re sure to run into each other here and there again—who knows. Until then, I’m really looking forward to seeing you and having one last round of Beikircher.
And then? Let’s get going!
