Behind the alias Cara is 24-year-old musician Cara Luisa Bäumer. She uses her songs as an outlet for everything that makes life what it is: self-discovery, the dynamics of relationships, city life, and deeply personal family stories. In doing so, she manages to articulate her observations with unflinching honesty yet profound poetry, carried by a voice that perfectly navigates the fine line between intimacy and distance.

Thematically, Cara turns her gaze to the places that sometimes hurt. In her debut EP, for example, she processes the experience of a loved one’s alcoholism or captures the restlessness of sleepless nights. But there’s also room for quiet declarations of love, such as when she sings about her bond with her mother in a disarmingly simple way. These are songs about growing up, the search for home, and the end of chapters.

Musically, her sound navigates an exciting space between classic singer-songwriter craftsmanship and modern pop aesthetics. Together with her producer Noah Dröge, she strips the arrangements down to the essentials, while still letting influences from artists like Paula Hartmann and Schmyt shine through. In the end, however, what remains is a sound all her own—unmistakable—that couldn’t fit better into the atmosphere of our NUN.
