Konzert: Die Brueder Selke – Im Innern des Kosmos

The multi-instrumentalist composer and curator duo Brueder Selke (CEEYS)—featuring Sebastian Selke on cello and Daniel Selke on keyboard instruments—was born in East Berlin before the fall of the Wall and is now based in the inspiring UNESCO City of Film, Potsdam. They present works spanning from the duo’s beginnings to the present day.
While elsewhere improvisation is sometimes dismissed as a sign of disorganization, in East Germany and the Czech Republic (Brueder Selke – Voices in Prague) it is regarded as a great art form. The ability to respond to life’s challenges with humor and creativity makes people masters of improvisation—and that is how they most like to see themselves.
This year, both volumes of sheet music (Notation 1 & 2) by the brothers are being published. These will be available for purchase that evening, allowing you to become part of the cosmos of the Brueder Selke compositions.
With stars, planets, and the cosmos projected onto the planetarium dome, we’ll set off on a musical journey of discovery.
