KONZERTHAUS MEETS RISING STAGE | DORTBUNT.CITY 2024 – 04. MAI

POP, FUNK, ROCK AND CHILDREN'S MUSIC IN THE BRÜCKVIERTEL

As in the previous year, DORTMUND KREATIV and the Konzerthaus Dortmund will be staging a varied and top-class live music program at the intersection of Brückstraße | Ludwigstraße | Gerberstraße for the DORTBUNT. city festival on 4 May from 11:30 to 20:00.

The Konzerthaus uses its foyer and the open-air stage for concerts and hands-on activities, while DORTMUND KREATIV performs on a mobile scissor stage - the Rising Stage - with Dortmund musicians. The program alternates between the two stages.

Dammnation
Dammnation is probably the most brutal new band on the Dortmund scene.
Dripping, honest instrumental funk that makes you push your lips forward, that makes you groove, that loosens the dam and simply lets the energy flow.
Dammnation is music for perineal massage, with a nod in the direction of Meters and the late Grant Green. One moment we're dancing and sweating in a club somewhere in New York that's far too cramped and the air far too stuffy, the next we're sitting on the west coast of Sardinia, drinking Campari Spritz with a slice of lemon, gazing dreamily into the sunset and humming schmaltzy Italian songs about love.

Johannes Stankowski
With each of his songs, Cologne singer-songwriter Johannes Stankowski transports his listeners, both young and old, into a picturesque world in a sonorous and organic way. Whether from the speakers at home or at one of his selected live concerts with a full band - Johannes Stankowski picks up children and parents, takes them by the hand and shows them the colorful life away from smartphones, Netflix and Co. With ease, he tells true-to-life stories from everyday life in his folky pop songs, and yet creates so much more than that between the lines. Johannes Stankowski is the long-sought answer to the question of high-quality, handmade children's music.

The Big Go
"It doesn't take much to get going". And here is the way: Alan Kassab on bass (Hendrik Otremba, Nathan Gray, Lobby Boy, among others), Eike Jamelle on drums (Otis Optic, vs.ROME, Lobby Boy, among others) and David Bartelt on vocals and guitar are DAS GROßE LOS.
The Dortmund band emerged from the members of Lobby Boy in 2023.
German lyrics far removed from elevator lard - but punk is also something else. You can confidently call it indie rock. Melody and rhythm. With oomph. With Selig, the Beatles and Queens of the Stoneage in a mixed bag. Not just for the gentlemen.
The band is currently working on new songs at Joachim Serges' microstudio in Dortmund. In addition to these, there will also be something from the predecessor band Lobby Boy.

WAHNSCHAFFE
The alternative pop duo WAHNSCHAFFE consists of Sophia Wahnschaffe and Hanna von Tottleben, who have been making music together since their youth. Their close human and musical bond has its roots in the early twenties of both artists, when their paths crossed in different band formations. Sophia, a graduate of the renowned Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, has played her way into the limelight with her impressive talent as a songwriter. At the same time, Hanna von Tottleben, who perfected her bass skills at the ArtEZ Hogenschool voor de Kunsten
has made a name for herself both as a bassist in various band projects and as a producer. Brought together by their musical synergy, what once began as Sophia's solo project with Hanna's support transformed into a mature duo concept. This creative spark was ignited in late 2019 during an inspiring support tour for indie rock band Newfoundland.

Charlotte Brandi

Two years after the EP "An das Angstland", Charlotte Brandi is releasing her second studio album "An den Alptraum". This is not only her first German-language longplayer, but also a work produced entirely with FLINTA's involvement. It's about men, women, fear, money, death and contributing to the revolution. This record certainly is one.

The decision to realize the album with only female or female-read characters was one against comfort and for the overdue paradigm shift in the music world. "Cultural recasting is not born out of comfort and, as far as I know, there is not yet an all-female produced album on the German market. And if I were 14 today, I would learn that it is possible," says Charlotte Brandi. Behind this idealism is also an artist who is no longer interested in power struggles in the studio with male colleagues. "For the first time, I never once felt like a little girl during album production," says Brandi about the fruits of her consistent feminist process optimization.
