Kosmisches Sommerfest: Einstein-Edition

In the organizer's words:

"Everything is relative" - On June 14 from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m., the Archenhold Observatory will be transformed into a galactic festival site: We celebrate Albert Einstein's revolutionary ideas and invite young and old to the Cosmic Summer Festival: Einstein Edition.

Look forward to 360° insights into the program of the Zeiss Small Planetarium, fascinating sky observations with the Cassegrain telescope and in the Solar Physics Cabinet as well as light installations in the legendary Einstein Hall. Visit the world's longest movable telescope on the roof of the observatory - a real highlight! You can also immerse yourself in Einstein's life and theories with immersive light and sound installations, interactive audio walks and participative room installations, specially developed for the anniversary by students at TU Berlin.

Outside, you can expect a glowing planet trail, water and air rocket launches, hands-on stations for children, music and a relaxed atmosphere. Culinary refreshments will of course be provided.

The program at a glance:

14:15 - 23:00, approx. every 40 minutes (duration: 30 min)

Cooperation with the Master's degree program Stage Design_Scenic Space at TU Berlin

13 young creatives from the Master's degree courses in Stage Design_Scenic Space and Architecture at TU Berlin will be designing artistic interventions on the grounds of the Archenhold Observatory especially for the anniversary. Under the direction of lecturer Franziska Ritter, the five teams explored the life and work of Albert Einstein and in particular his theory of relativity in a variety of ways. The Einstein anniversary can be experienced in a special way on site in the form of immersive light and sound productions, interactive audio walks and participatory room installations.

Celebrate Einstein's legacy with us

To mark the 110th anniversary of Albert Einstein's lecture on the general theory of relativity, this year we are inviting you to events in and around our buildings under the motto "Everything is relative". Almost 110 years ago, Albert Einstein gave the first public insight into his general theory of relativity in the large hall of the Archenhold Observatory in Berlin-Treptow, thereby creating a milestone for human knowledge. His groundbreaking ideas, which he presented on June 2, 1915 in Germany's largest and oldest public observatory, not only continue to shape science today, but also inspire lifelong learning and research.
