Music as a source of inspiration and inner peace awaits you at the solemn Kreuzchor Vespers on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 5 p.m. in the traditional Kreuzkirche Dresden. This special musical hour will not only be characterized by the sublime soundscape of the world-famous Dresden Kreuzchor, but also by the awarding of the highly prestigious Rudolf Mauersberger Scholarship to a promising young talent.
Choral music with the Dresden Kreuzchor
Together with the brilliant Dresden Consort ensemble and former singers of the Dresden Kreuzchor, the boys' choir under the experienced direction of retired Kreuzkantor Roderich Kreile and acting Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann will take you on a fascinating musical journey. The program spans a wide range of epochs: From the magnificent polychoral music of Giovanni Gabrieli to the profound stillness of Arvo Pärt and the innovative sounds of contemporary composers such as Jan Arvid Pree and Torsten Rasch, you can expect a varied and moving listening experience.
Special attention will be paid to the world premiere of Torsten Rasch's "Crux Duplex", a work commissioned by the Dresdner Kreuzchor, which explores the unique combination of boys' and men's voices in a new way. Let yourself be moved by the emotional intensity of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Jauchzet dem Herrn alle Welt", the heartfelt devotion of Rudolf Mauersberger's "Schola crucis", the jubilant "Alleluia" by Jake Runestad and the deep lament in Arvo Pärt's "De profundis". The program is rounded off by the festive "Dextera Domini" by César Franck.
