Lecture in English by the artist Nick Mauss followed by a discussion with the curators of the Five Friends exhibition Achim Hochdörfer and Yilmaz DziewiorI

n his lecture, Nick Mauss considers the "artist costume" as an independent medium and thus describes the interactions - both on and off stage - between artists and dancers in post-war New York, who discovered costume as a means of expanding physicality and artistry.

Nick Mauss (*1980 New York, USA) works at the intersections between media and their history, catalyzing a new poetics of the archive through complex collaborations in which the entire infrastructure of exhibition design is viewed through the lens of performance.

Achim Hochdörfer (*1968 Ulm) is director of the Museum Brandhorst in Munich. From 2001 to 2013, he was curator at the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig (mumok) in Vienna. During this time, he regularly taught at the Institute for Art History and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In cooperation with the Museum Ludwig Cologne, he curated the exhibition "Fünf Freunde. John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Cy Twombly."
