The US-American singer Kurt Elling is "the outstanding jazz vocalist of our time" according to the New York Times. He has already been nominated for a Grammy Award 16 times, winning it twice, and for years he has been subscribed to the award for best jazz singer of the year by the renowned American jazz magazine "Downbeat". As a thoroughbred entertainer, he is very much in the tradition of classic crooners such as Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett and uses his flexible baritone with deep emotion and absolute technical confidence. With the hr-Bigband, he meets an ensemble that has already impressively proven its reputation as one of the best of its kind in the world at the Musikfest with Tania Maria, Lisa Simone and Sheléa. Together they dedicate themselves to standards from the Great American Songbook and compositions by famous jazz colleagues, to which Elling has written his own lyrics.
