Wolfgang Benz in conversation with Nicole Warmbold
Her book is a classic in the USA, the movie won an Oscar, in Germany she remained rather unknown: Gerda Weissmann Klein. She was 15 years old when the Wehrmacht invaded Poland. The young woman survived three forced labor camps and the death march. Liberated by the U.S. Army, she married an American lieutenant who had been born a German Jew. Her memoirs have just been published in German, one year after her death. The editor Nicole Warmbold presents it in conversation with Wolfgang Benz.
