In the organizer's words:

Leipziger Liederladen with Maria Schüritz and Ingeborg Freytag

Four times a year, the Leipziger Liederszene e. V. invites you to a very special format. Under the charming moderation of Robert Weinkauf and Judith von Hiller, two musicians who have shaped or are still shaping the Leipzig music scene in their own way meet in the Leipziger Liederladen. It will become clear how rich the Leipzig music scene was even before the Peaceful Revolution of 1989, what we can draw from this wealth today and what we can rediscover today. An evening in which the past and future of Leipzig's song scene are lovingly intertwined.

Ingeborg Freytag
Ingeborg Freytag was born in 65 and comes from a family of musicians. She has worked as a violinist since the age of 7, later becoming a multi-instrumentalist and singer. She studied violin, percussion and singing, and since 1990 has also increasingly devoted herself to non-European musical traditions and playing techniques. Since 1987 she has been writing music for the group "frank & frey", Jens Paul Wollenberg and Pojechaly, various theater productions and the Ringelnatzpfad Wurzen, based on texts by Delia Franke, Andreas Reimann, Jens Paul Wollenberg, Gertrude Stein, Sophie Kassies, Joachim Ringelnatz and many others. Accompanied by Maria Schüritz, she presents some songs and texts from the past and present - sung and as spoken poetry. With violin, percussion and shrutibox. On the way to her own, self-interpreted song poetry.

Maria Schüritz
Maria Schüritz is a musical flaneur and vagabond. Antiheroes populate her soul-inspired songs and tell of new beginnings and metamorphoses. They also take a close look at various social issues. The songwriter's great curiosity is also reflected in her musical diversity: traces of chanson, jazz pop, world music and experimental music mingle with the soul rock vibe. The Leipzig native inspires with the many facets of her voice - from gently jazzy to spoken word to rousing soul power accompanied by fine to groovy guitar. Her current album "Durch die Nacht" (R.U.M.-Records/Löwenzahn, 2024) has already been longlisted for the German Record Critics' Award 3/24 and is included in the Liederbestenliste. In 2024 she was honored at the Popmusik in Sachsen competition, received the Liederleute-Förderpreis in 2023 and the 1st jury prize of the legendary Hoyschrecke in 2022.
Whether unamplified to guitar alone or embellished with live looped soul choirs, rhythmic meshes or sound collages, or with her band full of experienced Leipzig musicians: Maria Schüritz charmingly sweeps across the country's stages.
