Leonora im Morgenlicht (Kunstleben Filmsalon)

In the organizer's words:

DE/MX/GB/RO 2025; D: Thor Klein & Lena Vurma; 103 min.

In the 1930s, Leonora Carrington breaks with the social norms of her time and joins the surrealist movement. In Paris, she meets great artists such as Salvador Dalí and André Breton, but it is her tempestuous love affair with the painter Max Ernst that leads her on a journey to herself. Between art, passion and inner demons, Leonora has to assert herself in a world full of upheaval. With the beginning of the Second World War, she flees to Mexico, where she finds her freedom and her own voice as an artist.

In cooperation with the Flying Salon, films showing life and work in and from the art world will be shown on 5 dates at the Babylon 2026 cinema. Salon host Kimberly Hardt invites you to a discussion afterwards. Together we want to take a philosophical journey through the bohemian world - what does the art world teach us about life? Based on the film "Leonora in the Morning Light", the discussion will be dedicated to the topic of dreams as another truth in art.

3 p.m.: Film screening in the cinema

5 p.m.: Impulses & conversation at the salon table

Participation: No previous knowledge is required. The salon is all about open conversation. Every word should be received with curiosity for exchange. We practise the art of conversation!

Admission & registration: Participation and admission to the movie are free of charge. Please reserve a place at the salon table for the subsequent discussion: kontakt@wirrwarr-wehringhausen.de.
