Live literature with a view of the Elbe! The reading stage presents authors from Hamburg's ZIEGEL in a new setting and lets visitors listen to their texts by the water.

ZIEGEL, Hamburg's yearbook for literature, has been bringing together the city's best and most interesting authors for more than 30 years. The reading stage of the same name is just as diverse: popular local heroes have a home game at Strandhöft and present their ZIEGEL contributions in the summery HafenCity - and this time it's all about music! The first record, the first concert, the first instrument, first visits to discos and concerts, dancing dresses: music is everywhere and often accompanies us in the most important moments of our lives. The brand-new ZIEGEL and the accompanying reading stage are about precisely these events, which show the great magic that can emanate from music. Hamburg authors Silas Matthes, Cenk Bekdemir, Anne Sauer, Ocke Bandixen, Simone Buchholz and Magdalena Saiger will be reminiscing or imagining, and this time the special guests will of course be bringing handmade live music with them!

Deniz Jaspersen, singer and guitarist of the legendary Hamburg indie band Herrenmagazin, who has just published his first children's book, will kick things off in June. In July, Bernd Begemann, the most musical womanizer in Germany, co-inventor of the Hamburger Schule and legendary stage entertainer, will come to HafenCity.

The curious and those interested in literature are cordially invited to two guaranteed entertaining open-air readings in an evening harbor atmosphere - with music, Elbe and Elphi views.

We are looking forward to the 20th year of the Hamburger ZIEGEL reading stage and great guests on the most beautiful river in the world!
