On March 3, we invite you to a reading with Theodor Ertel from his novel Der Geschmack von seltsamen Wörtern - a story about language, childhood and the question of how to make yourself heard in a new life.
In conversation: Gregor Höppner (Anthea Verlag) - director, actor and author, who has worked in Cologne, Hamburg and Wuppertal as well as for film, radio and television.
In 1961, two-year-old Adrian and his family are stranded at Cologne Central Station. The start of a new life initially means: little space, little money, a language that is bigger than anything he knows. While the adults struggle to find work, an apartment and a place to live, Adrian builds his own world out of words in his head. He listens, collects, shifts meanings. Words such as money, work, politics and religion sound different depending on the mouth - and tell of very different lives.
Theodor Ertel talks calmly and precisely about growing up between languages, about remembering and about trying to find his own voice - sentence by sentence, word by word.
Registration is possible by e-mail, telephone or in person at the store!
