LESUNG: "Geteiltes Haus"
In the organizer's words:
Look forward to the reading with Alice Horáčková on October 9, 2026, at your Hugendubel bookstore in Frankfurt!
In her latest historical novel, we follow Zdenka and Anezka as they grow up in the first half of the 20th
amid regime changes and devastating wars. Over the decades, these two headstrong women struggle and bicker with wayward men, nagging mothers-in-law, wayward children, and their own national identities—losing much along the way, but never their friendship.
Silvi Feist will moderate the event.
About the author:
Alice Horácková, born in Prague in 1980, studied social sciences at Charles University. Her first book, *Vladimíra Cerepková* (Argo, 2014)—a literary biography of a forgotten Beat poet—was nominated for the Josef Škvorecký Prize and the 2014 Magnesia Litera Award for Discovery of the Year. *Geteiltes Haus* is her second work of fiction and the first to be published in German. Horácková lives in Prague as a freelance writer.
About the moderator:
Silvi Feist loves stories. Since 2019, the Hamburg-based journalist has hosted the podcast *Feiste Bücher* and curated the literature section of *emotion* magazine for more than 15 years. During book discussions, she looks forward to taking a peek behind the scenes of the stories—and, of course, to diving into the books with the authors.
