Stubborn, stupid and stubborn - the characteristics attributed to the donkey are not very flattering. And yet hardly any other animal plays such an important role in cultural history as the donkey: it stands for the maltreated creature; Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on it; Buridan's donkey became a philosophical paradigm because he starved to death in front of two haystacks, between which he could not decide. Jutta Person tells the astonishingly rich story of this beast of burden. Last but not least, she shows how clever this supposedly stupid animal with the beautiful eyes is - and how much we can learn from it.

The reading takes place in cooperation with the Literaturbüro NRW.
