AMAZON POESY
She has always found Amazons impressive. However, she could never have imagined that she would become one herself at the age of 40. Like every eighth woman in Germany, Käthe Lorenz was diagnosed with breast cancer. One thing was clear: she had no intention of writing about it, but then it happened...
The results are texts that are completely different in form, created from islands of memories of this special, challenging and yet beautiful time in her life - Amazon poetry: Powerful, vulnerable, angry, tender, sad, conciliatory and full of devotion to life. Lyrics that pick up the listener, even without being affected by the diagnosis.
The musician and composer Tim Steiner has set some of the texts to music in the most wonderful way.
In this reading, music and text combine in a touching way.
About the author:
After studying cultural studies with aesthetic practice at the University of Hildesheim, Käthe Lorenz worked as a theater educator at various German-speaking theaters (including Münchner Kammerspiele, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Residenztheater Munich) from 2005 - 2020
In 2020 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since 2021, she has been happily managing the office of kom!ma, an association for women's (political) cultural work in Düsseldorf, and works as a biodance teacher, moderator, freelance theater educator and speaker for the German Institute for Confrontative Pedagogy. Her first book Amazonenpoesie was published in August 2023.
