Lila Iké has what it takes to be a superstar. At the same time, she is grounded like few others in her profession. She masters the reggae keyboard like a pro. Before she took over big stages with dynamic shows, she was already rocking sound system sessions like a pro. These sessions influenced her just as much as Garnett Silk and Lauryn Hill. Her special talent did not go unnoticed by her mentor Protoje. He accepted her into his Indiggnation Camp back in 2017. Eight years later, she was nominated for a Reggae Grammy for her acclaimed debut album "Treasure Self Love". In the scene around Protoje's Habitat Studio in the mountains above Kingston - her home base - the term Wurl (Jamaican for world) has been circulating for some time for everything to do with purple. She took up the nickname and fulfilled a childhood dream. Together with Joshua Waters Rudge, singer of the English band The Skints and proven selector, she founded Wurl Sound. After sessions in Jamaica, England and Japan, she is now touring Germany for the first time.
Up close & personal! Riddim Session #2 is also all about overcoming the distance between artist and audience and creating closeness.
