As part of live arts, Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) will be performing a concert at the Bundeskunsthalle for the first time. As usual with his audiovisual performances, this show will also be accompanied by large-format LED visuals.

Known for his meticulously crafted audiovisual performances, Carsten Nicolai presents a set that captures his characteristic minimalist precision and rhythmic intensity. HYBR:ID UNI PARA is Alva Noto's latest audiovisual performance and combines percussive material from the UNIEQAV and HYbr:ID series with new, previously unreleased material. Building on the precise sound design of the previous albums, the project unfolds an expanded live language in which data-based processes are translated into spatial atmospheres as well as perceptual and affective experiences.

Under the pseudonym Alva Noto, Carsten Nicolai is one of the best-known representatives of contemporary electronic music. Concerts have taken him to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Tate Modern in London, among others. His various musical projects include collaborations with Ryōji Ikeda, Mika Vainio, Iggy Pop, Blixa Bargeld and Ryūichi Sakamoto. With the latter, Nicolai composed the music for Alejandro González Iñárritu's Oscar-winning film The Revenant, which was nominated for a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Grammy in the Best Film Score category.

Carsten Nicolai (born 1965 in Karl-Marx-Stadt) lives and works in Berlin. In his artistic work, inspired by scientific reference systems, he explores mathematical patterns such as grids and codes, errors and random structures as well as the phenomenon of self-organization. In doing so, he repeatedly crosses the boundaries between artistic genres.
