London Philharmonic Orchestra

In the organizer's words:

Raphaela Gromes | Edward Gardner
Sophisticated and highly romantic

Camille Saint-Saëns' 1st Cello Concerto is one of the absolute showpieces of the cello repertoire - brilliant, virtuosic and full of refined melodic lines that allow the cello to shine even in the lower registers. The London Philharmonic Orchestra flanks this highly romantic work with two further sonorous masterpieces: Elgar's concert overture "In the South", inspired by Italian landscapes, and Rachmaninov's intoxicating 3rd Symphony.

Please note a change to the line-up:
Sheku Kanneh-Mason has had to cancel his participation in the concert with great regret due to an injury to his left hand. On medical advice, he will suspend his concert activities until the end of 2025 and plans to return to the stage in 2026.

The Westdeutsche Konzertdirektion is very grateful to Raphaela Gromes for her spontaneous willingness to step in. The program can therefore remain unchanged.
