LONESOME ASTRONAUT – a personal journey in photographs

In the organizer's words:

LONESOME ASTRONAUT - a personal journey in photographs

The iconic astronaut continues his journey at the start of the year.

In the middle of it and yet alone. Since 2021, Nicole Giesa has been depicting a paradox of our time with the LONESOME ASTRONAUT: the increasing loneliness in a hyper-connected world. Selected works from this photo series about perception and reality, belonging and isolation, closeness and distance, between everyday observation and quiet metaphor are now being presented at Oberpollinger.

The first motifs were on display at the Glyptothek on Königsplatz in 2022. This was followed by international group exhibitions and solo exhibitions, including at the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz in Munich and the Barlach Halle K in Hamburg. Most recently, the iconic astronaut formed the narrative conclusion of Galerie König 's exhibition "Metaphor to Metamorphosis" at Kunstkraftwerk Bergson.

Oberpollinger presents selected and new works from the LONESOME ASTRONAUT series in collaboration with curator Ánh Nguyen (former gallery director König Bergson).
