IT'S A HARDCORE NIGHT was the name of a series of events in Munich at which authors, actors and celebrities read texts from their favorite books published by Heyne Hardcore, which still existed at the time, accompanied by local musicians and bands on the fly and then danced together.
Heyne Hardcore is now history.
But now the then publishing director and initiator of the event series Markus Naegele (also known as Don Marco as a musician and DJ) is bringing together what belongs together again under the motto LOST IN MUSIC (based on the cult book by Giles Smith).
Letters, (auto)biographical texts, articles, excerpts from novels from the wide world of pop music. Read aloud by authors, musicians, presenters and actors.
There will be live music on the fly, but not just any music, no, LOST IN MUSIC is also about the high art of cover versions, performed by local acts.
Afterwards, friendly DJs play their favorite records and it's time to party.

The performers
Judith Schnaubelt, Judith Schnaubelt, born in Munich, has worked as a journalist, presenter, editor, feature author, producer and DJ for almost two thirds of her life; almost always at Bayern2 (Zündfunk-Magazin, Zündfunk-Generator, Nachtmix, Nachtsession, Kulturjournal, B2 Musik), temporarily also at ORF and SZ; before that she studied political science, American studies and German language and literature at LMU and learned to cook, waitress, travel, do carpentry and dance on the side, but unfortunately not to sing. Message to her valued listeners: "Don't forget to love me!"
Behind Angela Aux is the political scientist, author, songwriter and musician Florian Kreier, who used to make hip-hop and has been singing and playing bass in the Munich band Aloa Input since 2012. As a solo musician, he moves between pop and underground, anti-folk and experimental pop. His music combines elements of indie pop, folk and experimental music and shows influences from artists such as Beck, The Velvet Underground, Mac DeMarco and The Beatles.
Anna Jung, has been in the book industry for decades and has done almost everything there (most recently program management at Voland & Quist). Until recently she lived in Berlin, now back in Munich, formerly in Vienna and now and again in a small town.
Achim Bogdahn was born in Erlangen in 1965, grew up in Munich and works as a radio presenter for Bayerischer Rundfunk/Bayern 2. He studied Protestant theology in Munich, Berlin and Glasgow, was the singer in the band Isar 12 (published by Trikont) and is an ardent fan of TSV 1860 Munich (which is why his passport officially bears the stage name "Sechzig"). He has worked as an actor ("Trautmann"), he is a certified soccer referee, he speaks a little Danish and he loves to travel by train. "Under the Clouds" was his debut as a book author.
Maria De Val( ME + MARIE, Ganes): Few female songwriters have such a flair for timeless songwriting away from fashion as the Ladin multi-instrumentalist. Sharon van Etten meets Boygenius, Alice Phoebe Lou meets Broadcast. Anyone longing for profound lyrics and an enchanting voice will always be in the right place with Maria De Val.
Monobob are a rumpy lo-fi living room band from Munich and Bad Aibling. Post-punk-freak-folk - and kaleidoscopic moods - from muted horror to stunned, bewildered rage and disturbing, unsettling sadness to impossible, yet tenderly germinating hope - Monobob sing and play variations on the theme of why, why, why man is the animal capable of thinking but unwilling to do so; whether and how the final closing meshes of power can still be given a hook; and in general: how it should all go on. Monobob (Karen Afeldt, Stefan Afeldt, Maryvonne Porwol, Markus Rhein) is therefore music for the times.
Don Marco has been playing in various underground bands since the 90s. As singer, guitarist and songwriter of the indie garage band Fuck Yeah, he released two albums and played with bands such as Maximo Park, Algiers and Frightened Rabbit. As Don Marco & die kleine Freiheit, he released two albums in German with various musicians. 2024 saw the live debut of his new band Drug Stop. Under his real name Markus Naegele, he earned his living as publishing director at Heyne Hardcore, most recently as head of the btb Verlag program.
King Brownie comes from Osnabrück, where he influenced a whole generation musically as a DJ in Hyde Park and supported the likes of Die Ärzte, Stray Cats, Hanoi Rocks, Bo Diddley and the Undertones. He managed Lüde & the Astros for many years and works as a record salesman.
