LUAH meets TANZ

Authentic melodies, smooth arrangements, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and songs that capture the full range of emotions—from the joy of *celebração* to the longing of *saudade* —these are the hallmarks of LUAH. The trio, consisting of the three musicians Elsa Johanna Mohr (vocals, percussion), Lena-Larissa Senge (vocals, synthesizer, percussion), and Ula Martyn-Ellis (electric guitar, vocals), combines musical subtlety with great expressiveness.

Following the albums “Sunlit” and “Movimento,” which won the 2023 German Jazz Prize, the Cologne-based vocal trio LUAH, led by Elsa Johanna Mohr, released its third album, “Equilíbrio,” in 2025. On this album, the band embarks on a tender quest for balance, delicately harmonizing a wide variety of musical styles.

For the new project “LUAH meets TANZ,” the trio expands its musical universe to include dancer and performer Karina Syndikus. In a lively dialogue, music, voice, and movement intertwine to form a shared expression. Songs and free improvisations take on new hues and narratives through dance, as sound and body resonate with one another.

An evening full of musical subtleties, spontaneous encounters, and moving moments—open, poetic, and full of energy.
