Calling Lucinda Williams a grand old lady of the Americana genre is by no means treading on her toes. After all, the woman from Louisiana is not only one of the most distinguished songwriters in the fields of country, folk, blues and rock, has successfully released a lot of records herself and turned 70 years old in January. The new record is perhaps a bit smoother produced than the previous ones, which came across rather rough and scratchy. But above all, it makes a statement to the world: I'm still here, and how! Three years ago, a tornado destroyed part of her new house and a stroke destroyed part of her mobility. She could no longer play the guitar and had to painstakingly learn to walk again. But even that can't stop one of the undisputed greatest songwriters. On the contrary. Instead, Lucinda Williams prefers to go on a world tour and will be honoring us next March with old hits and new songs. One of the rare opportunities to experience a truly great old lady live. -
