Christmas time is the time of songs: the warm sound of music gives us a sense of security. Songs with gentle melodies and repetitive motifs that soothe the child to sleep. The tradition of the lullaby can be found in all cultures - so we can assume that Mary and Joseph probably also sang songs to their newborn son at the crib: Out of love and care, perhaps to alleviate fear and also pain.

opia interprets old songs, including compositions by Michael Praetorius, Biagio Marini, Johann J. Froberger, Samuel Scheidt, Johann Schop, William Byrd and anonymous composers.

An evening full of tonal intimacy - between spiritual devotion, folk tradition and festive instrumental splendor from the 13th to 17th centuries.
