It all started with a notebook given as a gift. Then everything happened in an unpredictable way.
matter of course. Lyrics were written, melodies memorized, chords remembered and combined on mainly two instruments to songs with German lyrics. In singer & songwriter style Maik Iser tells all the anecdotes, problems and moments of happiness that happen to you every day. In the end, they are nothing more than small songs of big stories, but that's exactly how music is.
Maik Iser is a child of the "melodica festival movement". Via first support shows for the Icelandic songwriter Svavar Knutur his musical path led into the folk scene. After playing melodica festivals in Reykjavik and Hamburg, Maik started the Cologne version of the festival together with Stefan Honig (Honig, Accidental Birds) and Fabio Bacchet (Hello Piedpiper) in 2013. For six years, national and international artists were brought to Cologne and regional acts were referred to other festivals. It also played other festivals itself in Berlin, Paris and Groningen.
After many years of planning and organizing festivals, the desire to create their own music again could no longer be suppressed. And so started the EP project small songs of big stories, which is just waiting for its release in spring 2023.
