In the organizer's words:

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the German-Italian agreement on the recruitment of so-called "guest workers" (20.12.1955 - 20.12.2025), the Makkaroni Akademie from Cologne invites you to the exhibition Makkaroni Settanta - Esperimento collettivo in the Temporary Gallery. The collective was founded in 2020 with the aim of breaking down stereotypes about Italians in Germany and has been creating spaces and opportunities for exchange through artistic formats ever since.

The participating artists with a history of Italian migration deal with the topic in a variety of ways, including through sculpture, painting, photography, video & mixed media installations, film, poetry and sound installations.

At the same time, a collective space with a kitchen - spazio collettivo e cucina collettiva - will be inaugurated, which will continue to unfold over four weeks through discussions, communal eating, music and workshops. The exhibition will be complemented by a diverse cultural program, such as artistic workshops, film screenings, storytelling cafés and music evenings. This space is intended to become a lively place for exchange and encounters and at the same time serve as an open stage for further works and performances.
