Mando Diao have always been free spirits, going their own way, defying authority and enjoying the hedonistic side of life. These are the elements that have contributed to the successful and musically extensive career of the band, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The only thing you can predict about Mando Diao is their unpredictability. Their new album is being released in advance in three parts and - as far as one can judge so far - impresses with exactly the qualities that have distinguished the Swedes since their formation. "Stop the Train - Vol 1" and "Primal Call - Vol 2" have already been released, a third collection of modern and old school rock'n'roll is due out this year to complete the whole project.
After a long and triumphant Swedish tour following the release of the Golden Record winning album "I solnedgången", Mando Diao got together in the studio with producer Charlie Storm to record a rock album with riff-heavy songs, crashing guitars, powerful drumming and buckets of energy, with "Frustration" and "Fire in the Hall" already enjoying great success on international and Swedish rock radio.
We all know the character of Boblikov, the protagonist of the new studio album "Boblikov's Magical World". It's that person in us who likes to turn things upside down: the little brother of the inner bastard, the devil who sits on our shoulder and whispers things to us. He is not evil, he just demands his own advantage and wants to manipulate things in his favor. He is rarely in the limelight, and this anonymity gives him a sense of security and seriousness. Even if he does get us involved in rather shady business. And, of course, he doesn't sit on our shoulder at all, but is deep inside us. "Boblikov's Magical World" invites us into a fictional world where the scheming creep rules over a group of agents spread all over the world who receive instructions from Boblikov himself to do evil. Welcome to your own parallel universe, available from the end of April in all record stores you trust. You can get to know Boblikov live when Mando Diao present their new record to us on an extensive tour of Germany this winter.
