In Julian Rosefeldt's film installation Manifesto, Australian actress and Oscar winner Cate Blanchett appears in 13 different roles. As a homeless person, a funeral orator, a punk or a choreographer, she speaks texts from artists' manifestos from the 20th century. Rosefeldt has compiled these quotes into a text collage and located them in the present day to show that the flaming protests are still relevant today. Cornelia Gockel (curator of media art at the Sammlung Goetz and co-curator of the exhibition) will report on the background to this extraordinary and globally successful project in her introduction.
The special screening is part of the exhibition Encounters. Artistic Perspectives on Cinema , which can be seen at the Deutsches Theatermuseum until September 8.
