100 years of Marilyn Monroe
One hundred years ago, on June 1, 1926, an extraordinary artist was born in Los Angeles under the name Norma Jeane Mortenson. With an IQ of 168 (Einstein 148), the film industry cast her in the role of the naive, lascivious blonde, which did not really suit the unusually well-read woman. In addition to her stage name Marilyn Monroe, the film industry also gave her her well-known appearance with blonde hair. The Marilyn Monroe Quintet would like to commemorate a great personality of the 20th century by bringing her songs back to life in a small ensemble. She will be portrayed by singer Veronika Schäfer (Staatstheater Braunschweig), who will also lead through the program. The accompanying ensemble, which was formed solely for this program, consists of Helmut Schäfer (tenor saxophone), Urban Beyer (piano), Hannes Volkhardt (double bass) and Jörg Damm (drums).
