Björn Meyer belongs to the circle of musicians who reassess their own instrument. The bassist is a recurring guest at the festival who knows how to surprise and inspire in a wide variety of contexts - most recently in 2025 in Simin Tander's top-class band.

With his current solo album on ECM, which Meyer is presenting at Enjoy Jazz this year, he is consistently pursuing this path. Critics describe his playing as a radical expansion of the concept of the bass: as a "melodic intensity" that at times makes you forget the instrument, as music that opens up spaces rather than telling stories. Look forward to a concert that is carried solely by the instrument and the virtuoso behind it: it is gonna be "all about melody, expression and the weight of each carefully placed note" (Jazz Views).
