Bach's monumental work is one of the most important Passion settings in music history, although it fell into oblivion after his death in 1829 and was hardly noticed during the composer's lifetime. Nowadays, this is hardly imaginable, as the St. Matthew Passion is part of the fixed church music repertoire at Passiontide. The impressive work for two orchestras, two choirs and six soloists intensively depicts the suffering and death of Jesus Christ in consistently touching and moving arias, choirs, chorales and recitatives.

The CONSTANT chamber choir from Cologne and the Südwestdeutscher Kammerchor Tübingen will perform the work together. Both choirs are under the direction of Judith Mohr.
