It's the sound of MAXED OUT that makes you sit up and take notice: A laid-back beat, urban echoes, instrumentation that is not immediately identifiable. Following his highly acclaimed jazz single ENJOY THE CALMNESS, Maxim Frischmann's new band project shows another, completely different facet of the young tenor saxophonist from Munich. Both he and his three bandmates Björn Atle Anfinsen (tp), Dominic Harrison (dr) and Tommy Fuller (b) are rooted in jazz and well established in the scene. Their debut album, which will be released in January 2024, shows that they venture far beyond genre boundaries: Beats play a major role here, a lot of synthesizer is used and improvisational elements are also recognizable. Above all, however, there is a stubbornness, because this is a young band seeking and finding its own sound world and identity. It makes you curious to accompany them on this journey, to get involved with the unusual and to trust in the outstanding talents of the four.
