In this workshop, we will focus on the basics of multicolored linocuts. Together we will develop motifs and image ideas - supported by playful introductory exercises that open up access to our own visual language.

We will work step by step with linocut, tools and color. We will accompany you in developing the composition, cutting the linoleum plates and printing in several layers of color. The focus is on an experimental approach to material and technique.

The multi-colored linocut involves several print runs in which differently colored linocut plates are printed on top of each other on paper. In this way, a graphic develops from the interplay of surfaces, shapes, structures and colors - layer by layer.

The workshop is designed to be process-oriented: It is about learning the technique as well as free experimentation and confidence in your own creative process. No previous knowledge is required.

The artists Christina Koester, sculptor from Solingen-Gräfrath, and Stephanie Frost - art teacher - will guide you through the workshop, provide technical impulses and support individual approaches and working methods.

Aim

• Getting to know the basics of multicolored linocuts

• Gain confidence in handling linocut plates, tools, color and printing techniques

• Developing your own motifs and translating them into multi-layered prints

• Understanding of composition, color structure and layering

• Develop an enjoyment of experimental, process-oriented work

• Each participant leaves the workshop with at least two finished lino prints on very high-quality paper

Who is the workshop suitable for?

The workshop is aimed at anyone who would like to get to know the multicolored linocut from scratch. It is suitable for beginners with no previous knowledge as well as for people with some printing experience who want to deepen their technique and gain new impulses. Curiosity, a desire to experiment and an openness to process-oriented work are important.

All MATERIALS are included in the price - printing plates, tools, special inks, two large prints on high-quality paper. If you need more, we will communicate the price openly during the workshop
