„Metamorphosen“. Gregors Verwandlung - Erzählkonzert mit Martin Brödemann (Klavier) und Thomas Eicher (Text)

Gregor is an actor. He loves his work and immerses himself deeply in the roles he plays. When he discovers Ovid’s *Metamorphoses*, his life begins to revolve around stories of transformation, which eventually drive him to the point of obsession, alienating him from his family and his profession and literally drawing him into the worlds of imagination, mythology, and literature. This narrative concert portrays this process as a tragicomedy. Surprising twists, comical dialogues, and the many—often ironic—allusions to ancient themes provide a subtle sense of humor.
The narrative concert was inspired by Martin Brödemann’s latest CD, titled “Metamorphoses.” His compositions, which convey both lightness and virtuosity, reinterpret tonality in a new way by combining familiar elements with innovative ones. They are characterized by constant modifications of meter, seemingly abstract changes in time signature, shifts in accent, and polyrhythms. In conjunction with the text, they evoke a multitude of mental images and create a dynamic, lively atmosphere.

Martin Brödemann works as a pianist and organist. He studied piano at the Cologne University of Music, Wuppertal campus. As a soloist, accompanist, and composer, this versatile musician has participated in numerous events.
Thomas Eicher lives in Dortmund. He works as a cultural manager, author, host, and reciter. He has been the executive director of Melange e.V. since 2004. A doctor of literary studies, he has published short stories, scholarly works, and anthologies, and has conceived various stage productions.
