PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:
The International Festival of Street Theater and Global Sounds returns on August 7 and 8 after switching to a biennial schedule—with free admission.
Free & Outdoors
The festival kicks off on Friday at 3 p.m. with the Spanish trio Àvalon, performing jazz, bossa nova, and Latin American folk music. At the same time, the French collective La Méandre will present the dance performance *Bien Parado*. Additionally, Ponyclubcombines feminist theater, acrobatics, and dance, while Critical-Mess blends juggling with electronic music.
The musical highlight on Saturday is a performance by rapper Megaloh starting at 8:30 p.m. Also on the program are Sorvina, GANNA feat. Laura Robles, JJ Whitefield, Gotopo, KILLABEATMAKER, TAIGA, and the Schmidt Dance Orchestra —offering a stylistically diverse mix ranging from rap, neo-jazz, and electronic music to Afro, Balkan, and Latin American influences.
There’s also plenty for families to discover: At Leeds Square, Duo Diagonal & Der kleine Rummel Rausch, Omnivolant, and Clown Fidelidad will provide entertainment with acrobatics, theater, and interactive activities.
The festival wraps up on Saturday, August 8, starting at 10 p.m., with the after-show party at Baseology in Basecamp, featuring Mylène Kroon, C:mone, and Fabian Laute.
