If you take a look at the stories behind the formation of Microwave and The Dirty Nil, you'll see that they have a lot in common: both bands were formed out of friendship and sketch a picture of a classic rock band that is rarely found these days. It's only logical that Microwave could be seen supporting bands such as Letlive, Jimmy Eat World and Tiny Moving Parts, while The Dirty Nil can boast support slots for The Who, Billy Talent and Against Me! What both bands have in common is a modern mid-tempo rock sound with influences from pop punk, alternative and metal, which sometimes erupts in brute force and then nestles softly again, like the warm embrace of a friend you've known for a long time.

Founded in 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia, Microwave was born out of friendship and the joy of making music together. After their successful debut album "Stovall", which winds its way through driving alternative rock, it is the 2016 album "Much Love" that finally establishes Microwave within the US rock scene with tracks such as "Dull" and "Lighterless". With a clear focus on driving guitar riffs and melancholic harmony, their song "Lighterless" is a track that no emo rock playlist should be without. On their 2019 release "Death Is A Warm Blanket", Microwave show themselves to be even darker and heavier in spheres reminiscent of the alternative metal of the early 2000s ("Float To The Top" & Mirrors") and prove that the band never stagnates. In addition to the singles "Circling In The Drain" and "Straw Hat", released in 2022, which show Microwave in a rocking, partly balladic sound, the single "Ferrari", released in 2023, features an experimental approach with atmospheric synthesizers and shoegaze elements.

The Dirty Nil, founded in 2006 as a school band in Canada, have retained a certain impetuous youthfulness since the beginning of their career. In 2011, the band debuted with their single "Fuckin' Up Young" and their first tours in North America. After several EPs, the band released their debut album "Higher Power" in 2016 and was named "Breakthrough Group of the Year" at the Canadian Juno Awards in 2017. Their best-known single "Evil Side" from the 2018 album "Master Volume" is a dreamy, laid-back rock song with 90s grunge influences and balladic emo influences. The 2021 album "Fuck Art" combines the influence of hard thrash riffs with rocking pop-punk and midwest emo guitars, which gain energy along with a post-hardcore outburst ("Doom Boy"). The Dirty Nil 2023 continue the heaviness in their guitar riffs on "Free Rein To Passions". "Celebration" shows beyond doubt how heavy the band's guitar riffs can be, even before singer Luke Bentham brings the band back to the rocking alternative sound and underpins the energetic guitars with a "post-Nirvana nonchalance".

In 2024, Microwave and The Dirty Nil will go on a co-headline tour and play four club shows in Germany. An absolute must-go event for all fans of innovative rock music that is often calm and catchy, only to break out with a full edge.
