Mira Lu Kovacs

Virtuosity and magic on instrument and voice, countered by sometimes stretched to the limit directness in the narratives; the courage with a certain obliqueness to pull the existing pop appeal into the future, coupled with self-confident appearance and clear message: MIRA LU KOVACS has set up a lush cottage with garden in the memory of the music-interested public on her recordings, on and off stage. Under the name Schmieds Puls, she released the first of three exceptional albums in trio format in 2013 ("Play Dead"). It is followed by "I Care A Little Less About Everything Now" (2015), which wins the Amadeus Award, and the beguiling "Manic Acid Love" (2018). The range of Mira's work is constantly expanding - in 2019, for example, through the collaboration with Clemens Wenger (Jazzwerkstatt Wien, 5/8erl in Ehr'n), with whom she restaged her pieces for "The Urge Of Night" for a specially assembled ten-piece ensemble. Every milestone reached is seen as a starting point for the next stage of development; new pieces, new forms, new possibilities. It is no coincidence that Mira Lu Kovacs also collaborates passionately with colleagues - for example in the exciting experimental pop formation 5K HD. She plays in unusual theater productions ("Ganymede in Love"), opens the Wiener Festwochen (2018), curates the Wiener Popfest (2019), strengthens the 'supergroup' My Ugly Clementine on guitar and acoustically stages the Belvedere Museum (2019). After selected releases in 2020 - including a cover of the Enya classic "Only Time" - a kind of "second debut" will be released in spring 2021: for the first time, a record will bear her actual name, Mira Lu Kovacs. The album will be called "What Else Can Break."
