"Mirandolina" von der Grünen Bühne München

Mirandolina is a young Florentine innkeeper. She is pretty, sharp, and knows what she wants. This, of course, brings her a multitude of admirers.

Right now, two noblemen are staying at her inn and courting her ostentatiously, each in his own unique way. What a joy it is for Mirandolina to string her suitors along, play them off against each other, and reap their gifts and tokens of affection.

Just as things are starting to get boring, another guest arrives. A gruff cavaliere who has long since sworn off women and scoffs at the antics of the other two—but only until Mirandolina makes it her mission to set him ablaze with passionate adoration for her.

As if that weren’t enough of this wild courtship, other guests and the inn’s waiter also get thoroughly involved in this lively commotion. Tempers flare, and in the end, Mirandolina is left with only one surprising way to escape the turmoil: marriage—something she had no intention of doing at all.

With “La Locandiera” (1752), Carlo Goldoni shed the masks of the Commedia dell’arte for the first time and developed his own form of comedy. It is a great pleasure to follow the Italian master of comedy into this new literary territory—and the young ensemble of the Grüne Bühne München takes great delight in treating you to a lively and musical evening.
