Moby Dick
In the organizer's words:
Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" is more than just a classic seafaring story. The obsessed Captain Ahab's hunt for the white whale has long since developed into a modern myth - driven by the question of how far a person is prepared to go to achieve his goal.
Melville combines adventure and philosophical quest, inspired by the imagery of the Old Testament, the dramatic worlds of Shakespeare and the events of the 19th century. The result is a work that refuses simple answers and defies any clear genre classification.
Our production takes the audience on a journey between thundering waves and inner abysses: A life on board, characterized by cohesion, danger and the constant confrontation with the big questions of being human. Ahab and his crew are representative of us - driven by hope, fear, delusion and the longing for meaning.
