Play based on a dramatization of the world novel by Herman Melville
Premiere: July 2024 at Nymphenburg Palace
Inspired by the poetry of Shakespeare and the archaic nature of biblical texts, Herman Melville's world novel tells the famous adventure story of the mighty white whale Moby Dick and his vengeful hunter Captain Ahab. The battle with the forces of nature confronts him and his sworn companions with the primal questions of the human search for meaning: What do we live for? What is the goal? Melville uses powerful images to describe man's struggle with himself and nature, creating a visionary portrait of our modern civilization.
Following the great response to Shakespeare's A SUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (2021), 80 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD (2022) and PEER GYNT (2023), ENSEMBLE PERSONA and SCHAROUN THEATER WOLFSBURG have launched another co-production for 2024, which will celebrate its premiere in July 2024.
