30th Africa Alive Film and Culture Festival presented by Afroton Kulturprojekte
Momi Maiga is currently on tour in Europe with his album "Nio". Nio means soul in Mandinka, the mother tongue of the young Senegalese musician, singer and composer Momi Maiga. Kora and voice are his means of conveying reflections on human values. Together with the Catalan percussionist Aleix Tobias Sabater, the outstanding Marçal Ayats on cello and the Mexican violinist Carlos Montfort, Nio becomes a magical experience for all the senses. A dynamic and constant dialog between cultures. Casamance, Mexico and Catalonia merge in a sea of transcontinental sounds and rhythms that surprise every second.
Momi's warm voice dances between the twenty-two strings of the kora. He is majestically accompanied by the bow of Marçal's cello, the delicate and almost transparent percussion sounds of Aleix Tobias and the diverse sound effects of Carlos Monfort's violin. Fusion and emotion are the pillars of this lively, energetic and profound performance.
The soul of the show is brought to life by the combined presence of the four musicians on stage, who immediately captivate the audience.
