Düsseldorf lives and loves music: festivals and music events of all sizes and genres take place in the NRW state capital all year round, attracting thousands of visitors from the city, the region, Germany and all over Europe. Music is therefore also a very important economic and tourism factor for Düsseldorf. MUSIC DÜSSELDORF was founded to underline this and to represent the interests of the industry with one voice. The network brings together all important entrepreneurs, promoters and key figures in Düsseldorf's music industry.
"Our aim is to more clearly state the importance of the music industry for our city, to represent our interests to politicians, administration and the public and to strengthen Düsseldorf as a music city in competition with its regional and national rivals ,"said co-founder Hamed Shahi at the founding of MUSIC DÜSSELDORF. Together with him, Melanie Schrader, Daniela Stork and Felix Wursthorn form the founding board of the non-profit association.
Kick-off event and MUSIC DÜSSELDORF conference
The official launch will be marked by a kick-off event on Friday, June 7 with a reception and a conference on Saturday, June 8 at the PONG/NRW Forum. The conference will feature panels and talks on all aspects of the music industry and will kick off on Saturday with a reading by renowned author Shain Shapiro, who is now a globally recognized thought leader on the fusion of music, culture and urban policy. Shapiro will read from his book "This Must Be The Place. How Music Can Make Your City Better" at an exclusive pre-opening at 12 noon. Anyone interested is cordially invited to take part in the conference and shape the future of the music industry in Düsseldorf together with MUSIC DÜSSELDORF.
Guests of honor at the events are Nathanael Liminski, NRW Minister of Media, Düsseldorf's Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller and City Director Burkhard Hintzsche. "And when an association is founded to promote the music industry, a concert is of course a must: Starting at 9 p.m., we will celebrate the founding of MUSIC DÜSSELDORF with a live concert by Kira Hummen and Shunsuke Oshio," says Schrader.
