Conversation concert about Rudolf Karel (1880 Pilsen - 1945 Theresienstadt).

He was one of the last students of Dvořák. After an adventurous fate in Russia during the First World War, Karel became a professor of composition at the Prague Conservatory, where Jaromir Weinberger was one of his students. Karel was also successful as an opera composer.Due to his active resistance against the German occupation, Karel was sent toPankračprison in Prague in 1943, where he continued to compose under the most difficult conditions. He made score sketches on toilet paper, which a guard smuggled out of the prison. Karel died in February 1945 in the Small Fortress of Theresienstadt.
