In Icelandic, Myrkur means darkness, which is a direct link to the style and mentality of the Danish singer. The Nordic goddesses and strong women in mythology serve as her inspiration. Her compositions oscillate between black metal, blackgaze and neo-folk. She mixes the influences of Scandinavian folklore with harmonies and polyphonic clear vocals - this is where the musician's full talent can be found.
She has played the instruments on her four albums herself. She has also mastered the ancient arts of the lyre and mandola plucked instruments. Amalie Bruun kept her identity hidden at the beginning of her career before revealing herself as the brains behind the project. The former Ex-Cops singer released her first self-titled EP in 2014. This was followed by the succinctly titled first album "M" from 2015. Since then, the singer has developed her multi-faceted career up to the current album "Spine" and has played in the supporting program of Behemoth and Opeth and at festivals such as Wacken and Hellfest. The range of the solo artist is reflected in her music both musically and lyrically.
