Mystische Klangekstasen – Drei französische Meisterwerke im Festkonzert
In the organizer's words:
The comprehensive renovation of St. John’s Church in the heart of the city took five years. Work on revitalizing the church—an open space for community, art, and culture—is nearly complete. This forward-looking modernization will be celebrated with a festive concert in which Cantor Wolfgang Abendroth pays tribute to the musical tradition of St. John’s Church, where 20th-century French music has always been particularly cherished. The program features impressive, sonically rich works: Francis Poulenc’s “Gloria,” Olivier Messiaen’s “Trois Petites Liturgies de la présence,” and Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Laudate Dominum” for double mixed choir, organ, and orchestra.
