In the organizer's words:
The Lyyra Ensemble is a brand-new American all-female vocal ensemble sponsored by VOCES8, a group much beloved in Düsseldorf. The ensemble’s name, Lyyra, quite literally reaches for the stars, as it refers to the constellation named after the lyre of the mythical singer Orpheus. The six singers’ backgrounds could not be more diverse, ranging from classical vocal training to jazz, pop, and folk. This results in an enormous stylistic breadth and a fascinating spectrum of timbres that blend into a cohesive, unmistakable ensemble sound: brilliant, velvety, crystal-clear, and sensationally present.
