Artificial intelligence is a hotly debated topic with many social
social implications. The creative power of AI seems to know
of AI in words, writing and images seems to know almost no bounds. There are more questions than answers, such as the value of digital creativity and digital work.
With the cabinet exhibition NEW REALITIES. Stories of Art, AI & Work, the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin is presenting an excitingly curated show of photorealistic AI images from April 26 to September 15, 2024. In addition to the work between humans and AI, it also sheds light on the new working conditions of data workers. Guests are immersed in a world full of stories about a "workplace" that the curators Dr. Annabelle Hornung, Maren Burghard and Stephanie Müller have recreated in the exhibition space based on a suggestion from the AI.
in the exhibition space. The content and objects - notes and posters on the walls, photos and postcards on the desk and audio stations - are the result of an experimental collaboration with the AI. They show the impressive creative potential of this collaboration. At the same time, it becomes clear that the representation of reality by AI is not unproblematic and has complex consequences for our society. The exhibition focuses on
how AI controlled by voice commands often draws on clichés from its training data and thus creates "new realities". These supposed realities challenge our perception of the world because they disrupt our viewing habits.
